C-5

I served 8 years in the 60th OMS, 60th Military Airlift Wing, MAC, at Travis AFB in California as a crew chief.

These photos are of the inadvertant "creation" of the first C-5C. 68-0216 landed gear-up at Travis late in 1983. The airplane sat for a long time on the ramp while they decided what to do with it. They eventually removed the troop compartment, and are using the airplane for REALLY outsize cargo for the likes of NASA.
